KATE LANDSBERT: TEXTILE DESIGN
A Nottingham Trent University Textile Design graduate with retail experience liasing and negotiating with wholesale representatives. I'm knowledgable and passionate about textile and garment trends, and ambitious and eager to learn and develop skills in a creative or buying role.

Below is a portfolio of projects from throughout my time at university.
NOSTALGIC COMFORT
This concept considers the way in which
retro-inspired design can bring comfort to the wearer. Nostalgia, or dreaming oneself back in time, is a proven mechanism of coping with the modern world and the problems it brings. Personally, I was inspired by the 70s design of my parent’s childhood, and my grandad’s house which was very strongly of that era. My concept also brings a more literal sense of ‘comfort’ with techniques such as quilting and tufting, using soft tactile materials, and practical protection through waterproof PVC.
CHILD'S PLAY
For this project I was inspired by children's toys and experimenting with a fun and abstract approach to design. My main aim with this project was to experiment with different embroidery techniques. I used a combination of the cornelly machine, tufting machine, freehand domestic machine, digital embroidery, hand embroidery and beading in this collection.
NEXT MENSWEAR
This project was given to me by the Next Menswear design team. My concept was to create a collection of samples inspired by streetwear and the city environment with a focus on embroidery. In this project I used pushed my use of digital embroidery and experimented with padding to create more three dimensional samples that I envisioned being used for puffer jackets or jumpers.
